Travel by rail offers a good night’s sleep while your fast train from Paris speeds towards Andorra. After a short journey to Paris by Eurostar, you will have plenty of time to make the twenty-minute Metro connection and enjoy a visit to a café or bar. Stock up with provisions for the journey and see the Pyrenees appear as the train approaches Andorra in the morning. We arrange transport from the local station to your ski accommodation. The real fun is sleeping in a couchette and arriving at your ski resort for breakfast. Then, obtain your ski equipment and lift passes before the main air passenger rush on transfer day and get on the slopes. We can provide you with a FREE half-day Grandvalira or Vallnord lift pass. By setting off on Saturday afternoon and leaving Andorra on Saturday the evening train, you can feasibly get six and a half days skiing in. Journey times

1.	The Eurostar arrives at PARIS GARE DU NORD main platforms. Walk up the platform to the main station concourse area.

2.	Follow the signs to the METRO. The Metro is down an escalator. There is no easily accessible lift that goes down to this level so it's easier to carry your luggage on the escalator or down a short flight of stairs.

3.	At the bottom of the escalator you will see the Tickets – information desk and Automatic Ticket Machines. The Auto Machines are easy. Select the language and follow the prompts using the roller bar. Select One Way Single Journey Only and follow prompts. Pay €1.20 per person by card or cash.

Once you have your tickets. Follow the signs for M5 as shown here for the line:- BOBIGNY. PLACE D’ITALIE This goes through the ticket gate and down another escalator. If you are carrying large cases or skis/board, use the disabled/large baggage gate to the left of the turnstiles. If no attendant is present, you must press the buzzer and then pull the gate open.

5.	After the turnstiles, down the escalator, signage leads down to M5 Place d’ Italie, stopping en route at GARE D’AUSTERLITZ (9 x stops/ no changes). Follow this down one more flight of stairs to the platform. Trains run every 6 minutes.

6.	Towards the end of the journey the Metro rises about ground to give an incredible view of the River Seine. Remember to use the metal hand lever to open the train doors.

7.	At Gare D’Austerlitz, you must now make your way to the mainline train station. Turn right as you leave the Metro and walk back up the platform. Follow the signs marked:- TRAINS GRANDES LIGNES. They lead down several flights of stairs into the open air.

8.	Outside, you will see the ACCESS AUX TRAINS sign to the right, follow this to the terminus. If you have time to spare before your next train, there is a good choice of cafés here. There is no dining car on the train so eat before and take some provisions with you.

9.	Check the departures board inside the main terminal. The Lunea train to L’Hospitalet generally leaves from Platforms 19-21.

The service to L’Hospitalet shows as:- Destination: La Tour de Carol. The train starts as a very long train and then splits into different routes on the way. Make sure you aim for the correct platform, coach and seat number. [Voie=Platform/ Voiture=Carriage/ En Tête=Front/ Au Milieu=Middle/ En Queue=Back] Queue at the start of the platform until boarding begins. Your tickets are scanned and checked by SNCF staff so have them handy.

11.	Carriage numbers are displayed on the windows/doors each carriage. Toilets and washrooms at the end of each carriage. Options:- 45 degree reclining seat Couchette 4 berth Couchetter 6 berth

The final part of the journey in first light is very picturesque. On arrival at the station, walk towards the station building and follow the EXIT – SORTIE signage. You will see the coach and car park where pre-arranged transport will be waiting for you. Andorra is just 13kms away Pas de la Casa: 10 minutes Soldeu/ El Tarter: 20 minutes Arinsal: 40 minutes

Return journey times After a final full day’s skiing, you will be able to enjoy dinner in resort. A short coach transfer will take you back to L’Hospitalet station. Last check-in is 30 minutes. You should be able to get a well-earned night’s sleep on the return trip, especially If you have booked either a 4-man or 6-man couchette. You may well be relishing avoiding the early morning start and coach transfer which the Toulouse or Barcelona air-travelers will be experiencing on Sunday.
